Work Detail Granite has secured a $64m contract for the Jurupa Road Grade Separation project from the Riverside County Transportation Department in Jurupa Valley, California, the US. The company included this contract in its second quarter committed and awarded projects (CAP). Under the scope of work, the company will be responsible for separating Jurupa Road and the Union Pacific Railroad by building a grade separation and relocating the current rail spurs. With the daily vehicle traffic and train count continuing to grow, the grade separation is expected to boost community safety by reducing traffic congestion, emergency vehicle response time, and air pollution. Granite regional vice president Brad Williams said: “We are happy to continue our long-established relationships with both the Riverside County Transportation Department and the Union Pacific Railroad. “We look forward to enhancing safety and improving the roadway conditions for community members and the driving public.” Construction is expected to commence this month, with completion slated for August 2023. In July, Granite won a contract to build the 148th Ave. NE Interchange Access Ramp in downtown Redmond, Washington. It was awarded the contract by the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT). The $28m contract will be included in the company’s second quarter CAP. The project is expected to begin in September this year and slated to complete in November 2022.
