Dr. Mohamed Abdel-Aty, Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, held a meeting with Ambassador Noke Masaki, Ambassador of Japan in Cairo, where a number of issues of common interest between the two countries in the field of water resources were discussed.
Abdel-Aty indicated that the cooperation between the two countries extends for many years, during which several joint projects have been implemented between the two countries in the field of water resources.
Abdel-Aty stated that the position of the new Dairout Barrage project was discussed, explaining that the project will be put up in an international public tender on December 8th.
It is noteworthy that the Dayrout Barrage Group is one of the oldest water installations in Egypt and the world and is located on the Al-Ibrahimiyyah Canal, and the new Dairout Barrage project aims to improve irrigation works for an area of ??about 1.50 million feddans in five governorates (Assiut - Minya - Beni Suef - Fayoum - Giza), and to provide an advanced system to control the behavior of the canals that the group feeds in the five governorates, and this project comes as a continuation of the bridges that were previously implemented on Bahr Youssef during the past years, which are the barrages (Lahoun - Hassan Wassef - Giza - Mazoura - Saqla - the gold facility).
Abdel Aty explained that he reviewed with the Japanese ambassador the current position regarding the negotiations on the Ethiopian Renaissance Dam, and Egypts clear desire to complete the negotiations, with an emphasis on Egypts constants in preserving its water rights and achieving benefit for all in any agreement on the Renaissance Dam, and an emphasis on seeking a fair legal agreement And binding on all, meets the aspirations of all nations in development. |
