Work Detail US-based investor-owned water utility New Jersey American Water has announced $6.8m investment to upgrade water infrastructure in Monmouth County. Under the project, 23,000ft of ageing water lines will be upgraded across Monmouth County. In addition, 23 fire hydrants and up to 250 utility-owned service lines along the pipeline routes will also be replaced. Work on the project has already started and will be completed by March next year if weather permits. New main will be added in Holmdel, Interlaken, Middletown, Ocean Township and Sea Bright areas. Local contractors on the project are Perna Finnigan, J.F. Kiely Construction and Pioneer Construction. Coastal Operations senior director Carmen Tierno said: “New Jersey American Water places a high value on our proactive replacement program, as it helps us improve water quality and service and makes our systems more resilient to potential disruptions in the future. “These projects throughout Monmouth County are a continuation of the critical investment for the company to provide our customers with safe, reliable water service. By constantly upgrading our infrastructure, we’re planning to keep it that way.” New Jersey American Water noted that all emergency vehicles and local traffic will be allowed access during construction. As part of its multimillion-dollar initiative, the company is speeding up water infrastructure renewal works in more than 100 communities across the US state. Earlier this year, New Jersey American Water acquired the wastewater assets of the Borough of Mount Ephraim.
