Work Detail Appreciating the efforts of the Airports Authority of India (AAI) for awarding the proposed Greenfield Airport project at Hollongi near here, Arunachal Pradesh civil aviation minister Nakap Nalo has advocated weekly monitoring to ensure 30-month completion target of the project. The project has been awarded to the Ahmedabad-based Dinesh Chandra R Agrawal Infracon Pvt Ltd. Informing that land compensation has been paid to all the local inhabitants, Tatak said the state government would build the boundary wall, approach road and provide electricity. "The AAI in-charges here are AGM Rehman and AGM (Civil) Govinda Raju," he added. Interestingly, the vast airport area included cultivable land, local houses of Nyishi, Chakma, Boro, Miri and Karbi tribals and few ponds. But there was no sign of any signboard or foundation stone as Prime Minister Narendra Modi had laid its foundation digitally from IG Park here. A foundation stone was laid at Karsingsa near here on February 20, 2007 by then home minister Shivraj Patil but the site was changed later considering huge hills of the area. Informing that Karbis have one hamlet each at Hollongi and Kokila, one Biren Basumatari, whose forefathers lived in the area and also their names on the electoral rolls, complained that the Bodo inhabitants were not paid land compensation. He said he has shifted to the Assam side. With consistent persuasion by CM Pema Khandu, the Union finance ministry, on January 14 last year, had approved the Greenfield Airport at Hollongi, 25 km from the state capital, at an estimated of Rs 1055 crore.
