US-based drilling contractor Evolution Well Services (EWS) has executed a 24-month agreement to provide dedicated electric hydraulic fracturing services for a leading onshore oil and gas company.
The implementation is expected to start in the first quarter of this year.
EWS technology and marketing vice-president Carrie Murtland said: “Our clients are facing increasing pressure to perform more economical and sustainable completion operations on their assets.
“This agreement illustrates acknowledgement by yet another leading E&P company that our technology achieves both of these goals. Evolution continues to lead innovation in electric frac and has proven that our fleets are not only a viable solution but are the ideal solution.”
The company’s multi-patented electric fracturing fleets are designed and packaged by its affiliate Dynamis Power Solutions.
These are powered by a proprietary, built-for-purpose natural-gas-burning turbine generator package.
This fracturing technology enables EWS’ electric fracturing fleets to be half the size of traditional fleets and considerably operate quieter than them.
EWS sales director Nick Ruppelt said: “By drastically reducing the footprint, emissions and noise versus a traditional fleet, we are able to provide industry-leading, efficient services while minimising the impact on neighbouring communities and the environment.
“We feel the importance of the local communities and environment cannot be overstated. We are continually partnering with our clients to find new ways to improve.”
A total of 5.5 million gallons of diesel can be saved by each fleet every year if locally-produced natural gas is used as fuel rather than ordinary diesel fuel.
Besides yielding cost savings of around $1.5m a month with each fracturing fleet, the cleaner-burning nature of natural gas benefits the local community and the environment.
In November 2017, EWS executed a three-year agreement for its 100% electric hydraulic fracturing fleet for a major US-based onshore oil and gas producer.
Last November, the UK Government stopped its support for shale gas extraction (hydraulic fracturing) in England amid fears over earthquakes related to such operations. |
