Work Detail The Bogor administration and the Pahang Tourism Ministry, Malaysia, have agreed to cooperate on the cross-promotion and development of sports, culture and nature-based tourism in the two regions.

The agreement was sealed in a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Bogor Tourism Promotion Board (BPPD) head Zaenal Syafrudin and Pahang Tourism Minister Dato Sri Sharkal on Friday at Palm Hill, in Sentul, Bogor, West Java.

“We are very enthusiastic to offer sport-tourism packages, especially golf, which generates large amounts of revenues from big-spending golf players. During last June, 1,000 tourists from Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei Darussalam stayed for a month here just to play golf,” Zaenal said.

The Bogor administration had on June 3, he said, launched an initiative to transform the peak of Bogor into a sport-tourism destination, such as for golf, rafting and paragliding, combining with its natural beauty.

Dato Sri Sharkal expressed his expectation that the cooperation will boost tourist visits to Bogor and Pahang, which is a golf center in Malaysia. “I praise the cooperation in tourism with the Bogor administration. Through the cooperation, we can also promote 'Visit Pahang 2017', “ he said.

As part of the promotion, the Bogor regency will host a golf tournament on Sept. 7 and 8, which is aimed at attracting 1,500 tourists from the Asia-Pacific. (ags)
