Work Detail Transport for London has awarded a £27m contract to IT infrastructure services company Computacenter to provide its core support services. Under the contract, the company will be responsible for the delivery of a service desk and desk side support services. Included in these are support for customer information screens, audio/visual equipment, and meeting rooms. The four-year contract begins from 25 January 2020. Computacenter will also be responsible for the continuity of service for Transport for London, and the technical resources for its services that the agency needs as and when required. Furthermore, the company will deliver service performance to agreed service levels, improve existing services as per business requirements, provide recommendations or guidance on utilising new technology and ways of working to further streamline the agency’s core support services. The core support services contract was tendered in October 2018. The value of the contract was at that time estimated by Transport for London at £30.0m-£70.0m. Based in Hatfield in Hertfordshire, Computacenter claims to have more than three decades of experience working with the public sector. In July 2017, the company was reported to have been awarded a major end-user computing (EUC) deal worth up to £24.5m from the Home Office as part of the latter’s disaggregation strategy from the IT2000 contract that was awarded originally to Sirius, a Fujitsu-led consortium. The Home Office contract is said to be for the overall management and level-2 support of its disaggregated End User Compute supplier ecosystem. The contract, which started at the end of May 2017, will run until at least 30 May 2020, with a potential extension by a year under a “3+1” deal.
