Horizon presented by Prime Minister Joseph Dion Ngute to the National Assembly on November 29
In 2020, the action of the Cameroonian government, in the field of energy, “will be focused” , among others, on “the start of construction work on the Menchum hydroelectric development”, said Cameroonian Prime Minister Joseph Dion Ngute on November 29 at the National Assembly.
Joseph Dion Ngute presented on the occasion the Economic Program the Economic, Financial, Social and Cultural Program of the government for the financial year 2020.
"The Menchum hydroelectric development, with a capacity of 72 megawatts, associated with a 90 kilovolt transmission line, will eventually make up for the energy deficit in the North West region," said the Prime Minister.
The Chinese public company Power China international, via its subsidiary Sinohydro, presented its interest in the construction of this dam.
However, the ongoing insurgency in the Northwest region, where this hydroelectric development is planned, could affect the governments forecasts. |
