Work Detail EPC contractor Global E&C has been awarded a contract as the default construction contractor for several EnQuest’s UK offshore assets. The company also secured a position on EnQuest’s engineering, modifications, and repair services (EMRS) framework for brownfield services, including survey, engineering, and fabrication. Global E&C said that it would deliver all construction-related activities across the Thistle, Heather, Magnus, Northern Producer, and EnQuest Producer facilities. It is worth noting that the EPC firm held contracts with EnQuest for the past five years. Matt Abraham, OGUK’s supply chain director, added: “Innovative commercial arrangements such as the relationship between EnQuest and Global E&C help unlock North Sea activity in a safe and sustainable way, and drive improvements in performance.” Global E&C also stated it was looking to recruit an additional 60 offshore and onshore personnel across a number of disciplines. Terry Allan, Global E&C’s corporate development director, said: “We’ve been very focused on a strategy to be the most efficient brownfield focused EPC contract in the North Sea and this notable award for our team is a significant part in that journey.” It is worth reminding that EnQuest had to evacuate workers from its Thistle platform last week, which sits 125 miles northeast of Shetland. The platform was shut down and evacuated in a precautionary move following a subsea structural inspection. Following the evacuation of 151 workers from the platform, Britain’s workers’ union RMT suggested that the speed of evacuation suggested ‘a serious problem.’
