Work Detail The Board of Directors of the Moquegua Development Fund approved prioritizing 14 projects for the provinces of Ilo and General Sánchez Cerro. The works will be executed in the next three months and will require an investment of 6 million 600 thousand soles, resources that will be taken from the 10 million soles of the first disbursement of the Anglo American mining company. Anglo American made a commitment to disburse 100 million soles in favor of Moquegua to develop the Quellaveco mining project, which is currently rejected in part. Authorities and leaders accuse the company of failing to comply with the hiring of local labor and suppliers. During the extraordinary session of the Moquegua Development Fund, held last Monday, the mayors Gerardo Carpio, of Ilo, and Luis Concha, of General Sánchez Cerro, requested to prioritize the Education, Agriculture and Construction projects, in order to benefit the inhabitants of their provinces. Luis Concha explained that, by agreement with the authorities of his province, the distribution of Anglo Americans contribution will be made equally among all its districts. However, the first beneficiaries will be La Capilla, Coalaque, Matalaque and Ubinas where they will build bocatomas, canals and three communal premises, among others. For his part, the mayor of Ilo, Gerardo Carpio, presented initiatives to benefit pavements and slabs to Pampa Wireless and El Algarrobal, along with the reforestation of the Pacocha forest. In addition, the Board of Directors agreed - unanimously - to notify the Municipality of Mariscal Nieto again so that they may decide on the 15 projects presented, last September, by the different sectors of civil society in this province. They also approved financing for the construction of a biological pest control laboratory in fruit trees for the province of General Sánchez Cerro. And the construction of a wducativa institution for initial and primary level, in the Wireless Pampa sector, in Ilo. Both projects will require an investment of 12 million soles and will be financed with the contribution of 25 million for the three provinces of Moquegua, committed by Anglo American during the construction stage.
