World Highways correspondent for Nepal, Ram Krishna Wagle, reports that the route will be designed to meet the Asian Highway Primary Class A standard. The work will review the previously completed detail engineering survey, detail design of expressway, the design of the expressway retaining structures, cross-drainage structures and drainage structures. It will also review river training structures, highway pavement structures, underpasses and overpasses, toll plazas, interchanges, rest areas, road furniture, cut slope design and landslides protection. A key focus of the design review will be for the alignment and tunnel sections. The project is being managed by the Nepalese Army and Nepalese Government. Improving key road routes in Nepal will help boost economic development as well as safety for road users, increasing capacity and reducing journey times.
