The government allocates 2.6 billion riyals for investment expenses

The value of projects approved by the Tender Board this year amounted to RO 724.1 million, thus increasing the amount by almost six times what the Board approved during the whole of 2018, amounting to RO 129 million, as part of the Sultanates efforts to accelerate the pace of the national economy through the establishment of new projects and pumping more Funds for the development of the economy.

According to the statistical data issued by the National Center for Statistics and Information, total government expenditure at the end of last May amounted to about RO5.75 billion, of which about 3.6 billion RO for current expenses, RO 868.2 million for investment expenses and RO 175 million for contributions and support in addition to actual expenses. In the road projects, the Council approved the construction of two tunnels and the implementation of additional works for the third lane of the Duplication of Sharqiya Highway (Phase I - Part I) amounting to RO 71.5 million, and the additional works for the upgrade of the efficiency of Falaj Al Qabail Roundabout in the Wilayat of Sohar by RO 3 million. In the health sector, several tenders were awarded, including: supply of medicines, vaccines and serums to the Ministry of Health for RO 29.1 million, and three tenders for the provision of technicians for the operation and maintenance of health equipment belonging to the Ministry of Health in the governorates of Dhofar and South-Sharqiyah at a total cost of about RO 11.8 million. In the airport sector, the contract for the maintenance of air traffic management systems (civil aviation) contract was awarded to RO 3.8 million and advisory services to oversee the development of Muscat International Airport and Salalah Airport at RO 3.6 million.
Tenders awarded during the current year also included the construction of a mixed-use investment building, which includes the establishment of offices, hotel, residential and commercial units and their accessories in the high cost of Muscat Governorate for the retirement fund of civil servants worth RO 54.6 million, and the expansion and development of the sea fishing port in the wilayat of Dibba, Musandam Governorate to the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries 39.8 million RO, construction of mosques, mosques and 5 schools for the Liwa Housing Project (relocation of affected families to the activities of Sohar Industrial Port in the Wilayat of Liwa) at RO 24.5 million, renewal of the Ministry of Education contract with National transport (transport) by about 7.6 million to RO.
