Work Detail Specialist in subsea well intervention technology , Interventek has been awarded a contract to supply its Open Water Revolution valves to Trendsetter Engineering in Houston. Underwater shear and seal safety valves will be delivered in early 2020 for integration with Trendsetter MkII 15K Light Riser Intervention System. The system is scheduled for its first deployment by a major international oil and gas operator around March 2020, as part of a submarine well intervention project in Latin America. Interventek CEO Gavin Cowie said: “Our Compact Revolution valves are ideal for meeting the lightweight system requirements of this project, and to partner with this advanced thinking, Trendsetters contemporary solutions provider is very exciting. In the future, we see clear market growth opportunities for these types of solutions and look forward to building a long-term relationship to help meet this demand. " “Our solution addresses many of the shortcomings of existing light-hole intervention and completion workover riser systems designs. Interventek technology has been instrumental in achieving reduced equipment package size and weight, enabling a wider range of intervention vessels or opportunity vessels to be used. This enables a more efficient and cost-effective operation, integration and operation model, as well as increased reliability and security for HPHT intervention operations, even at 20,000 psi. ” Mike Cargol, Vice President of Trendsetter, added: “Through early adoption of Interventeks revolutionary Revolution valve technology, our newest mechanical well intervention system will challenge the paradigms of existing systems. Trendsetter has found a partner with similar ideas at Interventek and together we are proud to bring innovation to the intervention. The Revolution shear-and-seal safety valve includes several features, including unique internal component arrangement and functionality. This ensures that it can quickly pass through any likely obstruction and reliably seal the well using just a single device. Its simplified and compact design reduces manufacturing and maintenance time and cost, and its universal compatibility with the system means it is suitable for a variety of subsea intervention or well control solutions. This is currently the first commercial deployment planned for Interventek Open Water Revolution valves and is based on a successful track record that provides the same core shear and seal technology for riser intervention systems.
