Work Detail During the first half of the year, mining investment in Peru totaled 2,532 million dollars, which meant an increase of 26.2% compared to the same period of 2018, according to figures from the Mining Statistical Bulletin, published monthly by the Mining Promotion Directorate of Ministry of Energy and Mines (Minem). This increase was reflected in most of the items, the most prominent being Development and preparation, as well as, Plant benefit, which recorded the highest investment amounts (US $ 556 million and US $ 547 million, respectively) and, which in together they accounted for 43.5% of the mining investments executed between January and June 2019. At the company level, Anglo American Quellaveco SA and Marcobre SAC, remain in the first and second position of global investment execution, representing together 31.7% of the investment in the analyzed period. The third place is occupied by Southern Peru Copper Corporation, with 7.7% of the total invested; while Minera Chinalco Peru SA is in fourth position, with an investment of US $ 175 million and a 6.9% share of the total amount. June investment The bulletin also reveals that mining investments executed in June this year totaled US $ 478 million, registering a growth of 12.6% compared to the previous month (US $ 424 million) and an increase of 23.2% compared to the same month of 2018 (US $ 388 million). Investments in the Plant profit heading totaled US $ 105 million in June, meaning a decrease of 14% compared to the same month last year. Meanwhile, investment in mining equipment continued to rise registering US $ 79 million and achieving an increase of 163.3%, compared to the same month of 2018. Regarding investment in exploration, this amounted to US $ 31 million, a decrease of 7.5%, compared to June 2018. At the company level, Compañía Minera Poderosa SA affirmed itself as the leader with the largest investment in this area (US $ 20 million), while in the second and third place, Compañía Minera Zafranal SAC (US $ 14 million) and Compañía de Minas Buenaventura (US $ 12 million) were maintained. It should be noted that, together, the three companies contributed 29.4% of the total investment in exploration. Meanwhile, Infrastructure investment registered US $ 96 million, a figure that implies a reduction of 10.6% compared to June last year. The Development and preparation heading totaled US $ 92 million, registering an interannual growth of 66.5%.
