Work Detail Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has announced that funding of US$1bn will be allocated to an extension of Montreal Metro’s Blue line. When completed, the line will have an additional five stations across 8km, linking the current Saint-Michel station to Anjou. Two bus terminals and a park-and-ride facility will also be built. A press release states that 17,000 residents will benefit from the extension, which will also “lower daily commute times, reduce the number of cars on the road, and make Montreal greener”. Trudeau said: “By investing in the Blue line extension, we’re making a real difference in the lives of families, while creating good jobs and building a greener Montreal.” François-Philippe Champagne, infrastructure and communities minister, added: “The five new stations will simplify travel for the city’s east end residents and the people who work there, so they spend less time in traffic and more time with their loved ones.”
