Work Detail BHOPAL: Madhya Pradesh economic offences wing (E)W) on Wednesday made the sixth arrest in connection with its ongoing probe into the e-tendering scam. Manish Khare, a Bhopal resident, was nabbed for his alleged links with a Gujarat-based firm that is named in the FIR. EOW officials say that Khare has confessed to his role in tampering three tenders floated by Madhya Pradesh State Electronic Development Corporation (MPSEDC), estimated to be worth Rs 200 crore. Directors of the Gujarat-based firm have taken transit temporary anticipatory bail, which ends on Wednesday, said sources in the agency. Ten people associated with the firm have filed a joint petition in Gujarat high court, saying they apprehended arrest in connection with the FIR registered by EOW in Bhopal. They seek bail and quashing of the FIR, said sources. Khare is alleged to be a middleman between this firm and the software company that is accused of tampering with the e-procurement portal. Four people accused and arrested in connection with the e-tendering scam have moved MP high court for bail. Their application will be heard on Thursday. Since the FIR, EOW has arrested Vinay Choudhary, Varun Chaturvedi and Sunil Golwalkar of Osmo IT Solutions, an OSD of MPSEDC Nand Kishore Bramhe, and a senior member of a Bangalore-based IT company . The MP government was forced to revoke nine of its major tenders floated in 2018 after detection of breach. Investigators believe that if all tenders issued since 2013 are investigated, the scam may exceed Rs 80,000 crore.
