Work Detail Four more irrigation projects are ready for inauguration in Andhra Pradesh, according to Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu. The projects are: KL Rao Sagar Pulichintala, Kandula Obulreddy Gundlakamma reservoir, Madakasira branch canal and Adavipalli reservoir. He said 1.70 lakh acres would get irrigation facility with these and 13,40,772 acres ayacut (command area) would be stabilised. Naidu was reviewing the progress of the mega Polavaram project on the Godavari at Amaravati on Monday. The Chief Minister said that of the 62 ongoing irrigation projects, 19 had been inaugurated so far by spending Rs. 5,802 crore and 26 projects were in progress. He said the State would have to spend Rs. 20,849 crore more for completion of these projects which would provide irrigation facility to 11,87,588 acres of new ayacut and stabilisation of existing 23,00,509 acres. Referring to Polavaram project, he said 65.04 per cent works had been completed so far. He directed the officials to speed up the works as only three were left for the approaching kharif seaon. The works should be completed by the end of April and the earth and concrete works should be speeded up. The Chief Minister said Krishna waters would reach Madanapalli by Tuesday. He said 150 cusecs of water had been released to Cherlopalli reservoir and 85 cusecs to Chittoor border and the officials should ensure water supply to Kuppam by February 25. Kuppam in Chittoor district is the Assembly constituency represented by the Chief Minister. HBL
