Work Detail The national oil company Sonatrach will proceed in the very near future to the signing of a contract with the Turkish partner for the realization of a propylene unit in Turkey, said Tuesday in Algiers its P-dg, Abdelmoumene Ould Kaddour. "We are well advanced in our discussions with the Turkish partner and I believe that we will sign, shortly with the Turkish partner for the realization of a propylene unit in Turkey", said Mr. Ould Kaddour in a press briefing held after the signing ceremony of a contract between a Sonatrach subsidiary and the British Petrofac for the increase of gas production capacity of the Tinhert fields. The Algerian-Turkish project will thus allow Sonatrachs international activities to be expanded, while for Turkey, it will reduce its imports of propylene products, particularly from China. This is, it should be remembered, Sonatrachs second project abroad in addition to the purchase of the Augusta refinery in Italy. Sonatrach will be a shareholder in this project with 30% and will provide the load of 450,000 tonnes of propane for the unit, said Ould Kaddour. As a reminder, the Sonatrach Group signed in August 2017 a memorandum of understanding with two Turkish companies: Ronesans Endustri Tesisleri lnoaat Sanayi ve Ticaret and Bayegan for the realization of a feasibility study on a propane dehydrogenation installation project in Turkey. According to Ould Kaddour, Sonatrach will rely heavily on petrochemicals. In addition, the CEO of Sonatrach stressed during this press briefing that the group had set the objective of increasing between 50 billion m3 and 70 billion m3 per year its gas production, under the SH 2030. Asked about the integrated phosphate processing project in the region of Bled El-Hadba, (wilaya of Tébessa), Ould Kaddour underlined Sonatrachs commitment to complete the project on schedule. "Sonatrach is best placed to carry out this project and will do it on time," he said. Mr. Ould Kaddour who recognizes that the realization of this project could be faced with several risks, however, he stressed that Sonatrach had "all the capabilities to minimize them." "There are no risk-free projects In this project, Sonatrachs role is to minimize the risks that may appear," he added. As a reminder, a partnership agreement between the Sonatrach and Asmidal-Manal groups, and the Chinese groups led by the Citic Company to carry out an integrated project for the exploitation and processing of phosphate and natural gas deposits in the region de Bled El-Hadba was signed Monday in Tebessa, at a ceremony presided by Prime Minister Ahmed Ouyahia. This project of which the Algerian part holds 51%, against 49% for the Chinese part, is distributed between the deposit of Bled El-Hadba with Tebessa, on 2 045 hectares, the platform of Oued Kebrit with Souk Ahras extending on 1 484 ha, that of Hadjar Essoud in Skikda, on 149 ha and the port of Annaba on 42 ha. Mobilizing an investment volume of six (6) billion dollars, including 10 to 15% of financing (services) provided by Sonatrach, the phosphate complex, whose commissioning is scheduled for 2022, will guarantee annual foreign exchange revenues of $ 1.9 billion.
