Work Detail Karlovarská krajská nemocnice signed a contract with EVC, a subsidiary of CEZ ESCO. The contract is implemented by the advantageous EPC method, meaning that the contract contains legal guarantees that every year the hospital will save at least CZK 8.5 million on heat, electricity, gas and water expenses. Investing in the improvement of the energy infrastructure will be financed by CEZ ESCO itself. They will be repaid gradually - from the savings achieved. It will be the first EPC-based project in the Karlovy Vary Region. "When we started thinking about how to save on energy costs, we decided to deal with it in a comprehensive way. EPC means a long-term partnership with a supplier where both parties have a clear financial incentive to make the best result, " says Jitka Samakova, general manager of the hospital . "For us, it was a sure bet, because the technology contractor is contractually responsible for the quality of the solution being provided. Significant energy savings for us means that we will be able to move the saved resources in the future where we need them the most: to further improve patient care. " The investment will reach 65 million crowns. CEZ ESCO will build a hot water boiler room on the premises of the hospital, which will be completed with a modern 400 kW cogeneration unit that will produce both electricity and heat. There will also be a modernization of the heating system, including the reconstruction of the gas pipeline. The area will be supplemented with the so-called "heel control", a system that allows central heating to limit the amount of heat coming into individual objects. The great advantage is that, for example, in well-insulated objects there is no unnecessary overheating. " We are delighted that the regional hospital has become the flagship of EPC projects in the Karlovy Vary Region. Comprehensive energy savings projects with guaranteed results are becoming more and more popular as they provide zero cost savings for public administration at zero cost. The investment itself is repaid by the savings, " says CEO CEZ ESCO Kamil Cermák. " In addition to hospitals, schools, town halls, social care homes, or theaters are also suitable for EPCs. We have tens of successful projects across the Czech Republic. " A key change in the hospitals energy performance will also be the use of automatically controlled valves on the heating elements in selected rooms. The heads are part of an IRC (individual room control) system that allows the room temperature and temperature to be set and monitored according to usage patterns, timetables or working hours, so as to keep heat and heat to patients and staff, while avoiding unnecessary waste of energy. CEZ ESCO also installs economical LED lighting. Energy systems will be monitored by hundreds of sensors throughout the area. Sensors will measure not only temperature, but in some cases even humidity. Meal preparation in the kitchen will also speed up. For example, steam boilers will be replaced by multifunctional electric pans, which are much more efficient and capable of producing more food at the same time. It will also optimize the use of appliances according to how many and what foods are being prepared. Overall, heating costs will be reduced by almost 33 percent, power consumption by the grid will drop by 31 percent and water consumption by 12 percent. "Throughout the 10-year contract, during which we guarantee savings, we will also actively implement energy management, which will make us more aware of the energy performance of the whole area. Based on this, we will seek and propose additional austerity measures, which even better results, " says CEO EVC Vaclav Taubr. Energy modernization and installation of new solutions will take place during this year and next year to minimize disruption to the normal course of the hospital. Patients will not be negatively affected by these work. ENESA and EVC subsidiary CEZ ESCO has implemented energy conservation projects with a guarantee (EPC) for example in Hospital Jihlava , in the Hospital and Healthcare Center Czech Lipa , in Litomyšlské hospital , the Hospital Chrudim in Orlickoústecko hospital or in three hospitals of World Health on Slovakia . Overall, thanks to these projects, the hospital will save almost 500 million crowns . The Jihlava Hospital Project won the European Energy Service Award 2014 in the 2014 European Energy Service Award. The project at the Hospital with Poliklinika Ceská Lípa was awarded an honorary award in the competition for the best energy-saving EPC method for 2017.
