Work Detail The Royal Scientific Society last month launched six companies (small to medium) as part of the project "Strengthening the role of youth in environmental issues in Mafraq and Ramtha". The project, supported by the Middle East Partnership Initiative ( MEPI)) To enhance the capacity of citizens, especially young people, to implement a range of community environmental initiatives that will enhance participatory governance within the targeted governorates through the formation of youth committees within the age group (18-25) that will implement these initiatives. The methodology of the project included building the capacity of the members of the youth committees on environmental topics through holding specialized workshops to familiarize them with the most important issues of water, energy and solid waste in Jordan, in addition to holding training courses for the committees in the subjects of self development skills (communication skills, presentation, Lobbying and technical writing. The committees were then divided into smaller groups to develop and formulate a set of proposals for innovative environmental initiatives that serve the local community and contribute to solving some of the environmental problems in the targeted areas of Ramtha and Mafraq. Subsequently, six proposals for community environmental initiatives were presented, all supported financially and technically by the project. In order to implement and manage these initiatives and to sustain the efforts of the working groups, a group of small to medium enterprises was established by the above working groups, in close cooperation with the Royal Scientific Society team. Since its founding in 1970, the Royal Scientific Society has provided scientific research, consultancy and technical support to local and regional institutions and companies. Based on the Societys responsibility towards the Jordanian community, the Society is constantly working to create awareness and training programs to engage local communities in addressing national challenges.
