SERCOP is investigating the case since August
Members of the companies authorized to offer cleaning services, protested against the hiring process carried out by the Los Ceibos Social Security Hospital in Guayaquil. Demonstrators claimed that the medical entity signed an agreement with associations outside the city.
The complainants request that the contests for alleged territorial violation be declared void. "They are hiring associations outside the locality, hire associations that have just left another hospital," said his lawyer Gabriela Rodríguez.
For its part, the National Public Procurement Service (SERCOP) states that the Hospital has been asked to stop hiring cleaning, food and laundry services.
Andrés Serrano, SERCOP Zonal Coordinator, assures that since the last month two evaluations have been carried out that correspond to the Public Procurement Process and to the 14 contracted companies.
Susana Mera, Manager of the Hospital, affirms that for the hiring all the established processes have been fulfilled. "We have sent our reports to both the SERCOP and the regulator of public procurement, as well as to the Office of the Comptroller General of the State, which does not show any signs of irregularity," Mera said.
It is expected that in the next two weeks, the SERCOP will complete the respective control processes.
