Work Detail The presidential candidate of the Democratic Revolutionary Party, Victoriano Rodríguez, will seek to reform the public contract law. According to Rodríguez, in a conversation with La Estrella de Panamá , one of the problems of the shortage of medicines in the Social Security Fund is the law of public contracting. According to Rodríguez, the law on public contracting is ruled out. Rodriguez will seek the formula in conjunction with the National Assembly to allow the acquisition of medicines and prevent the shortage of medicines. The presidential candidate also promises to reform the Political Constitution through a Constituent Assembly, instead of two Assemblies. Two Assemblies is not appropriate, says Rodríguez, because with the last reform (2004) it was not reflected. Rodriguez proposes that the deputies are not reelected, that the president does not have as much power and that a parliamentary government is made. The presidential candidate hopes that in the changes to the Political Constitution, the way in which the deputies are chosen will change. According to Rodriguez the subsidies that are delivered by the Government must be eliminated. But before doing that step, real studies must be done and they must not become a man of clientelism. The subsidies from the Government must be given to the people who are necessary and who do not have property. "Subsidies are a shirt for workers and the middle class," insists the candidate.
