BANJALUKA - In the three months of this year, five of the worlds economic powers of BiH were equal only with Germany, while the other four were exported ten times more than they were imported, shows the calculation of Independent, based on the data of the Foreign Trade Chamber (STK) BiH. Out of the total imports in BiH, which amounts to slightly more than 847 million KM in the first quarter of 2018, more than half was realized by Germany (436.4 million KM), followed by the Russian Federation, China and the United States, while the share of Japan in the foreign trade exchange negligible. On the other hand, BiH managed to return almost the same amount of goods to Germany as it imported, namely 424.2 million KM, mostly through furniture (KM 106 million), machines and boilers (KM 50.2 million) and clothes (KM 37.3 million). However, what should be concerned is that BiH has exported goods and goods worth only KM 46.7 million to the other four countries. The most serious export partner after Germany is Russia, in which KM 19.6 million was exported, mainly pharmaceuticals and fruits. Belma Hasic, from the sector for the macroeconomic system in STK BiH, says it is logical that the best exchange was realized with Germany due to the proximity of that market, which automatically means lower and more favorable business and better connection for companies from BiH. For other countries, there are a number of limitations and non-tariff barriers that seek to protect their national economies. As she said, EU companies and third countries such as BiH are facing a number of barriers in China, where there are restrictions on market entry, as well as numerous discriminatory practices. It is similar to Japan, which also has barriers to market access, including customs, non-tariff measures and restrictions in the area of ??public procurement. According to her, there have been problems and obstacles with Russia until recently, because of their inability to fulfill their demands for entry into the World Trade Organization. Speaking about the US, Hasic says they have maintained some long-standing technical barriers to trade and restrictions on the import of meat and egg products, and there are excessive delays in processing applications for imports of EU companies for certain products of animal and plant origin. BiH has many good products that can parry on the world level, unfortunately, we do not have many opportunities and tradition to develop the marketing of certain products, and BiH is increasingly turning to regional partners because of the proximity of the market, similar consumer habits, better connectivity. Also, our economy is small and we can not even get to bring products to the mentioned world markets to the desired extent, she concluded. |
