Record-breaking unemployment has increasingly had a negative impact on city halls when demand for construction work. In addition to rising prices, it is no exception that the winning company cancels the order. Shes missing workers. The lack of designers.
Even a year ago, the rule was true: when a city or village lists a public tender to repair a walkway or for example a sports ground, the calculated price will be reduced by at least a quarter thanks to competition in the industry.
Now its all different. Even local governments are beginning to bear the consequences of the construction boom and record low unemployment.
"Companies do not have workers, they are busy enough and their work is growing," said Uherskobrod Mayor Patrik Kuncar.
It is based on its own experience. Brod took off the reconstruction of the stairs leading to Ceská zbrojovka in the first phase for CZK 1.7 million. But the winning firm resigned. At the second announcement, the lowest bid was already over two million crowns. Even this company canceled the contract. The third attempt ended with the signing of the contract, and the final cost would be two million.
Finding a business on a small order is often the most difficult
Even so, there is a shortage of people in the construction industry. Companies have a lot of work to do, choices are made and are more tied to deadlines. In addition, they also increase wages, which is reflected in labor costs.
"Replacing retiring workers is not as simple as before," said Tufir of Kunovic, the construction company, Lubomír Šlosar.
