BTS Pro, one of the most important IT companies, has been imposed a fine of over 400,000 lei by the Competition Council (CC) for refusing the inspection, carried out by the institution. It is not the first irregularity of the company, being previously sanctioned by CC for similar violations. The company is an active participant in public procurements, of which it annually earns millions of lei.
The last fine was levied on 19 February and is to be paid within 2 months.
According to the Council, BTS representatives restricted the control team access to the information from the companys computers, provided erroneous data about the number of premises used at a specific address, communicated contradictory information about the connection to the server, and committed other irregularities of this kind. All this made it impossible for Competition Council to examine the documents necessary for the investigation.
This is not the first time when the BTS is sanctioned by the Competition Council. In November 2017, the company was fined tens of thousands of lei for not informing the CC about the economic concentration with Tehno Exclusiv Ltd. Also in November 2011, the company was fined over 1 million lei for the refusal to undergo a check and deceiving the employees of the Competition Council.
BTS PRO trades computers, peripheral equipment and software. The company is also an active participant in public auctions.
According to the data of the Public Procurement Agency, in the period of 2013-2018, the company obtained over 81.6 million lei from public contracts. The amount of contracts ranged from tens of thousands of lei to several millions. In 2018, BTS has already concluded 8 public procurement contracts with a total value of about 2 million lei. |
