Work Detail During the 70th Annual Convention of the Argentine Chamber of Construction (CAMARCO), the Secretary of Public Works of the Nation, Luis Giovine, highlighted a selection of strategic projects that the Government decided to continue after reviewing the status of more than 2,300 projects underway. Among the four initiatives considered priority is the Vipos Aqueduct in Tucumán, with a projected investment of $127 billion , one of the largest in the federal plan. Giovine explained that the current administration undertook a comprehensive review of the public works system, focusing on administrative and financial efficiency. As a result, 500 minor projects were transferred to the provinces, 1,668 low-impact projects—such as curbs, changing rooms, and plazas—were discontinued, and 183 projects considered strategic were preserved, of which 122 were agreed to be reactivated in conjunction with 21 provinces. The Vipos Aqueduct was included among the four projects that will continue to be executed directly with national funding. Along with this project, the Albigasta Aqueduct in Catamarca (estimated investment of $102 billion), the Chaco Aqueduct ($71 billion), and the sewage treatment plant in Pinamar , for which eight companies have already submitted bids worth $23 billion, will also be restarted. The official explained that this selection is part of a new public works execution model that prioritizes efficiency, progressive execution, and contractual order. In this regard, 42 contracts were renegotiated to resolve previous inconsistencies, and the terms of nine other key projects were rediscussed. Regarding the housing program, Giovine reported that the Procrear and Casa Propia plans have been reformulated. Now, the nation no longer assumes direct financing, but rather transfers implementation to the provinces, which manage the funds according to their needs and management capabilities. This modality has already allowed nearly 10,000 housing units to be launched nationwide, without advance payments or redeterminations that increase costs. In this context, the inclusion of the Vipos Aqueduct represents a concrete response to a long-term demand in Tucumán, associated with strengthening its water infrastructure, which is key to the regions urban, productive, and health development.
