The Municipality of La Plata has launched an ambitious Urban Works and Maintenance Plan that will be implemented over 18 months in six areas of the district. The work includes patching, paving, stormwater drainage improvements, and the restoration of public spaces, with an investment of over $100 billion. The goal is to work on approximately 2,000 blocks in different neighborhoods, under a system of contracts awarded to private companies through public bidding. The plan calls for the construction of 400 blocks with curbs and gutters, the paving of another 600 with asphalt, and the improvement of 1,000 dirt streets. The National Technological University (UTN) provides technical assistance and audits the works, while general supervision falls to the municipalitys Secretariat of Planning, Public Works, and Services. To organize and optimize execution, the municipality divided the city into six zones, each under the responsibility of one or more contracting companies: Zone 1 : includes the north of the urban hub, Toulouse, Villa Castells, Savoy, and parts of Ringuelet, Gonnet, City Bell and Villa Elisa. Winning company : Eleprint SA – OCSA SA (UTE). Zone 2 : covers the west of the urban area, El Rincón, Gorina, Arturo Seguí, Los Porteños, Las Banderitas, Colonia Urquiza, El Peligro, and sectors of Ringuelet, Tolosa, Gonnet, City Bell, Villa Elisa, Hernández, Abasto and Melchor Romero. Successful bidder : Briales SA – Pelque SA (UTE). Zone 3 : covers the south/west of the urban area, San Carlos and parts of Hernández, Los Hornos, Romero, Abasto, Olmos and Etcheverry. Awarded company : Hidraco SA Zone 4 : includes the southern part of the urban area and sectors of San Carlos, Los Hornos, Olmos and Etcheverry. Successful bidder : Coninsa SA – Caroleo SA (UTE). Zone 5 : includes the south/east of the urban area, and parts of Altos de San Lorenzo, Villa Elvira, Los Hornos, Arana, Olmos and Etcheverry. Successful bidders : Bricons SA , Construcciones Igevial ??SA , Solidum SA Zone 6 : covers the east of the urban area, Sicardi Park, and sectors of San Lorenzo, Villa Elvira, Arana, Olmos and Etcheverry. Successful bidder : Centro Construcciones SA – Basaa SA (UTE). The impact of this intervention will be significant for more than 800,000 residents, who will benefit from an improved road network, reduced flooding, and the restoration of urban space. This initiative seeks to reverse years of accumulated deterioration and create a more solid foundation for transit and neighborhood development. |
