The national government is moving forward with its plan to award concessions to key routes through the toll-based public works system. This time, the process is opening for the Entre Ríos sections of National Routes 18 and 12, within the framework of the Federal Concession Network – Stage 1 program . This will include a public hearing scheduled for next Monday, July 7, in the Mayo Hall of the city of Paraná. The project includes two sections of high strategic value for the Argentine coast: National Route No. 18 : from kilometer 14.55 (junction with RN 12, on the outskirts of Paraná) to kilometer 241.27 (junction with RN 14, in Puerto Yeruá), covering 226.7 kilometers of the highway that connects Paraná with Concordia. National Route No. 12 : from kilometer 401.29 (junction with RN 131, in Crespo) to kilometer 450.68 (junction with RN 18, in Paraná), which implies a total of 49.39 kilometers . Also included within the “Mesopotamian Section” is National Route A-012 , in Santa Fe, between the junction with RN 9 and the junction with RN 11, along 66.71 kilometers . A key corridor for logistics in the Litoral The resolution calling for the public hearing highlights the strategic value of the section: it is an essential corridor for regional and interprovincial transportation , linking productive areas in the center-east of the country and enabling the efficient flow of agro-industrial, forestry, and citrus goods to export centers along the Paraná River. From a sociocultural perspective, it is also noted that Routes 12 and 18 link localities with a strong cooperative and federal identity , promoting integration and territorial development in the Mesopotamian region. The concession model The new concessions will be governed by a toll-based public works scheme , meaning the winning companies will be responsible for the maintenance, operation, and, eventually, expansion of the routes in exchange for charging fees to users. They will also have the opportunity to develop complementary activities , such as rest stops, service stations, and logistics areas. Those interested in participating in the public hearing must register between June 8 and 28 on the official website of the National Highway Administration, under the Federal Concession Network or Participatory Spaces sections. The call comes days after the relaunch of the bidding process for the Mercosur Route , whose concessions expired in April and whose previous operator, Caminos del Río Uruguay, entered into bankruptcy proceedings, leaving 500 employees laid off without compensation . Since then, the National Road Authority has maintained the routes with its own resources and minimal maintenance work . |
