The Municipality of La Plata launched an ambitious Urban Works and Maintenance Plan that includes patching, paving, water improvements, and public space enhancement in six areas of the district. The program, awarded in February and March of this year, covers 2,000 blocks and represents an investment of over $100 billion, with an 18-month execution period. From a construction perspective, the plan calls for work on 400 blocks with curb and gutter construction, paving 600 blocks with asphalt, and improving another 1,000 dirt streets. The initiative also has the technical support and auditing of the National Technological University (UTN), which provides guarantees regarding the quality control of the works. To facilitate the development of the works, the municipality divided the city into six zones encompassing different neighborhoods. Below is the list of companies awarded contracts for each sector: Zone 1 (north of the urban area, Tolosa, Villa Castells, Savoia, and parts of Ringuelet, Gonnet, City Bell and Villa Elisa) UTE Eleprint SA – OCSA SA Zone 2 (west of the urban area, El Rincón, Gorina, Arturo Seguí, among other neighborhoods) UTE Briales SA – Pelque SA Zone 3 (south/west of the urban area, San Carlos and areas of Hernández, Los Hornos, Abasto, Olmos and Etcheverry) Hidraco SA Zone 4 (southern part of the urban area, with sectors of San Carlos, Los Hornos, Olmos and Etcheverry) UTE Coninsa SA – Caroleo SA Zone 5 (southern/eastern part of the urban area, including Altos de San Lorenzo, Villa Elvira and rural areas) Bricons SA, Construcciones Igevial ??SA and Solidum SA Zone 6 (east of the urban area, Sicardi Park and sectors of Villa Elvira, Arana and San Lorenzo) (Information pending public confirmation) The main objective of these works is to improve circulation and connectivity in the various neighborhoods, reinforcing both road infrastructure and stormwater drainage in critical areas. The work also includes the renovation of urban spaces to optimize the quality of life for more than 800,000 residents. |
