Work Detail The Government of Santa Fe signed an agreement for the construction of a new bridge over the Saladillo Dulce stream, located on Provincial Route 56 S, in the jurisdiction of Colonia Teresa. With an expected investment of $320 million, the project will be executed by the Provincial Highway Department and aims to replace a now-obsolete, century-old structure that for decades was essential for rural traffic and productive activity in the region. From a technical perspective, the project was developed by the Streuli y Asociados firm. It will include the construction of two spillways to divert traffic and allow for safe work on the stream. A dry dock will be built to stabilize the bed, steel beams will be placed, the bridgeheads will be rebuilt, and a new reinforced concrete roadway will be installed. Part of the original quebracho structure will be preserved as a historical testament, incorporating a facade-like design that respects the bridges original design. The project responds to a long-standing need for livestock producers, rural workers, and residents of the San Javier department, who for years have demanded a structural solution to their connectivity problems. The lack of a safe, freight-vehicle-friendly route required detours of up to 100 kilometers, with a significant impact on logistics times and costs. The new infrastructure will not only improve regional productivity but also the quality of life for hundreds of families. During the signing ceremony, the construction of two hydraulic relief valves and an additional investment of more than $20 billion to repave the section between Colonia Teresa and El Gusano, part of the strategic corridor of Provincial Route No. 1, were also announced. These interventions are part of a provincial road restoration plan that prioritizes neglected localities and aims to strengthen territorial inclusion. The project, considered the most significant of the year for the Provincial Highway Department, marks a shift in focus for public investment in Santa Fe: reaching places where infrastructure is key to production, although not always visible from major urban centers. In addition to its functional value, the renovated bridge will incorporate a heritage and tourism focus, respecting its original identity as a symbol of local history.
