Work Detail The Ministry of Energy has authorized Luz del Campos entry as a generating agent in the Wholesale Electricity Market (MEM) for its project, the first to receive the benefits of the Large Investment Incentive Scheme promoted by the government. The Argentine Energy Secretariat has authorized the entry of Luz del Campo as a generating agent in the Wholesale Electricity Market (MEM) for the El Quemado photovoltaic park, located in the Las Heras department, Mendoza province. The project, with an installed capacity of 305 MW, will be connected to the Argentine Interconnection System (SADI) at 33 kV busbars of the future El Quemado 220/33 kV Transformer Station, by sectioning the 220 kV San Juan-Cruz de Piedra high-voltage line, under the jurisdiction of Distrocuyo. The Luz del Campo project, a partnership between YPF Luz and Empresa Mendocina de Energía (EMESA), contemplates development in two stages: an initial 200 MW and a second 105 MW. The first stage of the park is expected to begin operations in the first quarter of 2026. The park, whose construction began in September 2024 , contemplates an investment of more than 200 million dollars and includes the installation of more than 500,000 solar panels, capable of generating enough energy to supply more than 200,000 homes. In December of last year, it was announced that the National Government had approved the El Quemado Photovoltaic Solar Parks inclusion in the Large Investment Incentive Scheme (RIGI), making it the first project to access this framework of tax, customs, and foreign exchange incentives. The El Quemado park joins other notable projects in Mendoza, such as the 115 MW Anchoris project and the 90 MW Malargüe project , which have driven the expansion of solar energy in the province. The region boasts optimal irradiation conditions and land availability, which favors the development of large photovoltaic plants.
