In a strategic move to capitalize on the burgeoning demand for solar modules in the United States, Gujarat-based Kosol Energie Pvt Ltd is set to invest ?300 crore in establishing a 2-gigawatt (GW) solar module manufacturing facility in the US. US President Donald Trump wants manufacturing to be done in the United States, so we have zeroed down on a location for setting up a 2 GW solar module manufacturing facility with an investment of ?300 crore, stated Kalpesh Kalthia, Chairman and Managing Director of Kosol Energie. Kalthia emphasized the companys existing familiarity with the US market, noting, We have been in the hospitality business in the US since 1991, and we understand the local market. Kosol Energie already operates a significant 3.1 GW solar module manufacturing facility at Bavla near Ahmedabad, which currently serves the US market through exports. The move to localized production in the US reflects a pivot to directly meet the Made in USA requirements and leverage potential incentives. Interestingly, Kalthia Group Hotels, a privately-managed hotel management company based in San Diego, California, is also part of Kalthias business interests. This group specializes in the development, operation, and management of premier hotel brands, including Hilton, Hampton Inn, InterContinental, Marriott, and Wyndham brands, underscoring the groups long-standing presence and business acumen in the US. This new solar manufacturing venture marks a significant diversification and expansion into the USs rapidly growing renewable energy sector. |
