The Municipality of Luján awarded the contract for the refurbishment of its Bus Terminal to Transportes Atlántida SAC , which will also be responsible for the maintenance and operation of the facility for a period of 20 years . The move was formalized after the bidding process concluded and marks a key milestone in reactivating a long-delayed project. The original project had been promoted through a Technical and Economic Assistance Agreement signed with the then Ministry of Transportation . However, the interruption of national funding due to ministerial cuts and restructuring left the project paralyzed, forcing the municipality to seek the termination of the agreement and associated contracts. Faced with this situation, the local Executive Department defined a new financing strategy through a private investment concession scheme. This model was approved by the City Council through Ordinance No. 8697 , which established the conditions for public bidding, including institutional transparency and political oversight through the participation of two council members as observers on the Evaluation Committee. The contract provides for the comprehensive renovation of the building , including improvements in accessibility, passenger services, security, signage, urban amenities, and building conditions, adapted to the current requirements of intercity passenger transport. With this award, the Municipality of Luján seeks to guarantee the completion and operational sustainability of a critical infrastructure for the region, significantly improving the experience of medium- and long-distance transportation users and consolidating a strategic hub for regional mobility.
