The Neuquén Provincial Government awarded two strategic paving projects that will substantially improve connectivity in the towns of Moquehue and Villa Meliquina , located in the southern Andean region of the province. The projects include paving sections of Provincial Routes 11 and 63 and involve a total investment exceeding $46.8 billion , financed with funds from the Neuquén Treasury. In the case of Moquehue, 13 kilometers of Provincial Route No. 11 will be repaired , from the junction with Route No. 13 to the bridge over the Las Ánimas stream. The project was awarded to José J. Chediack SAICA , for a total of $17.44 billion . The section crosses a rural area of ??high environmental value, so the project is expected to involve minimal soil removal and preservation of native species. The contract will be signed in the coming days, and work is scheduled to begin after the lifting of the seasonal ban in the spring. In parallel, the award of the paving contract for Provincial Route No. 63 , from its connection with National Route No. 40 to Villa Meliquina, was confirmed. CN Sapag will be in charge of this project , whose bid was lower than the official budget of $32.338 billion. The project was ultimately awarded for $29.390 billion , also with provincial funding. Both projects were defined as priorities within the framework of Governor Rolando Figueroa s administrations road plan , which includes the paving of 600 kilometers of provincial roads , a significant figure compared to the 1,120 kilometers paved throughout the provinces history . This program is part of a governance approach that promotes direct investment in basic infrastructure through a policy of austerity in current spending. The awarded sections will not only optimize road connectivity in these towns, but will also contribute to improving safety on mountain routes , facilitate access to essential services, and boost tourism development in the Southern Lakes Corridor. Moquehue, Villa Meliquina, and nearby areas are part of the Seven Lakes Circuit , one of the most visited in Argentine Patagonia. Among other notable works on the Neuquén road infrastructure agenda are: the paving of Provincial Route No. 65 in Villa Traful , 6 kilometers on Route No. 62 towards Lago Lolog , and the completion of 12 kilometers of Route No. 60 to the Mamuil Malal international pass .
