Rete Ferroviaria Italiana (FS Italiane Group) has awarded the tender for the executive design and construction of the first phase of the transformation of the Alessandria freight yard to the companies belonging to CLF. The tender has a total value of over 40 million euros and consists of the execution of technological and infrastructural modernization interventions at the Alessandria Smistamento yard. The project is part of the broader plan for the construction of the new railway freight terminal, for which RFI is drafting the technical-economic feasibility project for the innovative railway yard. The new area will feature 45-meter, 40-ton gantry cranes for handling goods moving along 4 tracks with a 750-meter module, 2 road lanes for the movement of trucks and 4 storage lanes for containers. As well as a dedicated motorway junction on the A26 between Alessandria Sud and Alessandria Ovest. In the first planning phase, which is the subject of the tender awarded, the construction activities include the renewal of the traffic management system with the equipment of the most modern Computerised Central Apparatus (ACC) system and the Electric Traction of the tracks for the management of goods. These modernization activities will ensure a modern management of freight traffic, favoring its increase, as the Alessandria Smistamento plant offers all the ideal characteristics to create a new terminal infrastructure, allowing its re-functionalization to serve the logistics of the territory and national and international traffic. |
