Rete Ferroviaria Italiana (FS Group) has awarded the tender for the design and execution of the technologies relating to the burying of the line for the extension of the runway at Fontanarossa airport, on the Messina – Catania – Palermo railway line. The tender, which is part of the larger project relating to the Catania Node, has a value of approximately 13 million euros. The contract was awarded to a Temporary Grouping of Companies with Progress Rail Signaling SpA as agent and Site SpA as principal, with the designer indicated in the Temporary Grouping of Professionals with Progress Rail Signaling SpA (leader agent) and Ferrotramviaria Engineering SpA (principal). The contract includes the technological equipment necessary for the undergrounding of the line, to allow the extension of the runway at Fontanarossa Airport. In particular, three new Computerized Central Devices (ACC) will be built, one of the highest technological systems in the railway signaling sector, which will manage the new Movement Post, the Bicocca Freight Terminal, the two communication junctions on the Motta side and Fontanarossa side and the new Catania Fontanarossa Airport station. |
