The Iansa and Enel X initiative is located in Maule and Ñuble. It comprises 2,228 high-efficiency panels and an installed capacity of 1.5 MWp, which will cover 100% of the energy demand of agricultural operations in both regions. Chilean agro-industrial company Empresas Iansa and Enel X have inaugurated a photovoltaic project consisting of four solar plants totaling 1.5 MWp. They will supply renewable energy to the Parral and San Nicolás production sites in the Maule and Ñuble regions. The system, which includes the installation of 2,228 high-efficiency solar panels, will produce 2,398 MWh annually, enough to meet the total energy demand of the agri-food companys agricultural operations in both regions. The project developed by Enel X includes a solar plant in the municipality of Parral (San Luis) and three others in the municipality of San Nicolás (Miraflores, San Juan, and Loncopán). According to a statement, the energy generated will allow the operation of 980 hectares of crops with technical irrigation, which will allow for the optimization of agricultural processes and a reduction in energy costs by up to 20%. Iansa also maintains an energy supply contract as a Free Customer with Enel Generación, which complements the renewable energy supply to its properties. The implemented business model corresponds to a contract model between an Energy Service Company (ESCO) and another company, where Enel X assumes the initial investment and the customer pays for the generated energy in monthly installments. At the end of the contract, ownership of the solar plants will pass to Empresas Iansa, allowing the company to directly allocate the generated energy to its agricultural operations. The agreement between the two companies includes comprehensive engineering, implementation, commissioning, and maintenance services for the plants, ensuring operational continuity and efficiency. The project joins other Enel X initiatives in the agricultural and business sectors, where the company claims to have implemented flexible financing models and energy self-consumption solutions for industrial and commercial customers throughout Chile. For example, the 393 kWp photovoltaic plant installed on the roof of the processing plant of the fresh fruit exporting company Geofrut , located in Longitudinal Sur, kilometer 78 of the city of Rancagua in the OHiggins region, can be cited. |
