May 2025 Intervention Sector(s): Children & Youth, Peace & Security, Social & Cultural Development, Training & Capacity Building Remuneration range: 3000 to 4000 (USD) Duration of Contract: 12 days of work (including preparation and delivery of ToT) Background The project Youth as Actors for Social Cohesion through the Conservation of One Historical Site in Lebanon (Rooting for the Future) aims to leverage Lebanons shared cultural heritage as a connector to foster social cohesion. Through this project, Lebanese youth will engage in the conservation of one historical site, The Citadel of Tripoli, promoting unity across diverse communities. The project includes three main activities: 1) restoring part of the Citadel, 2) training youth from different communities on restoration activities and employability skills to enhance their livelihoods, and 3) engaging in dialogue sessions on cultural heritage, social cohesion and youth leadership in a localized setting. To support the implementation of activity 3 of this project, the selected expert will be required to develop a comprehensive training package, including structure and content, focused on using cultural heritage as a tool for social cohesion and lead a 3-day Training of Trainers (ToT) for 12 youth facilitators. These facilitators will go on to deliver dialogue and capacity-building sessions in Tripoli, helping to strengthen social cohesion while linking it to Lebanons rich cultural heritage. The curriculum will be delivered by the facilitators over a period of 4 months, rhythm to be determined by the expert. Objective of the Assignment The expert will be responsible for the following: Develop a Training Package and Inform the Curriculum in Arabic and English: Create a detailed training package, including Learning Objectives, Schedule and Curriculum, a presentation and accompanying notes, on how to use cultural heritage as a tool to foster social cohesion. The modules will cover key topics such as: Definitions of social cohesion: key concepts and theory. The role of cultural heritage in building common ground. Approaches to utilizing shared history and heritage as connectors. Practical tools and methods for leading cultural heritage-based social cohesion initiatives. How to lead dialogue sessions on social cohesion (facilitation skills, structuring the dialogue, conflict resolution tools, practical exercises, etc.) Lead a 3-day Training of Trainers (ToT): Conduct a ToT program for 12 selected youth facilitators using the developed Training Package. The training should be interactive, with practical exercises, role-playing, and group discussions to equip the facilitators with the knowledge and skills to apply the content with their respective youth groups. Scope of Work The Expert Consultant will undertake the following tasks: Training Package development in Arabic and English: Develop the Learning Objectives and Curriculum including structure, content, and schedule. Design a presentation with detailed facilitator notes that provide an in-depth understanding of how cultural heritage can be used to strengthen social cohesion. Ensure the modules include theoretical background as well as practical case studies, exercises, and participatory approaches. Submit the draft modules to the project team for review and feedback. ToT: Deliver a 3-day ToT program in Tripoli, based on the developed modules. Facilitate interactive learning sessions that involve role-playing, practical activities, and group discussions. Provide feedback and coaching to the 12 facilitators during the ToT to ensure they are well-prepared to apply the content in the local context. Final Reporting: Provide a brief report in English summarizing the training outcomes, facilitators feedback, and recommendations for future training sessions and the implementation of the dialogue sessions. Submit the final version of the training package, incorporating any revisions based on the ToT feedback. Deliverables The Expert Consultant will deliver the following: Training Package: A comprehensive training package (notably Learning Objectives and Curriculum, presentation and facilitator notes) on using cultural heritage as a connector for social cohesion in Arabic and English. ToT Delivery: Facilitation of a 3-day ToT for 12 facilitators in Lebanon. Final Report: A final report in English summarizing the training outcomes, facilitator feedback, and recommendations for future training sessions and the implementation of the dialogue sessions.
