Vattenfall deploys ZX 300 wind lidars for wind development in Germany

Advancing a portfolio of new wind development opportunities in Germany, Vattenfall has confirmed the deployment of a fleet of ground-based ZX 300 wind Lidars for wind resource assessments. These Lidars remotely determine wind characteristics, including wind speed, from ground level up to 300 meters. The fleet of ZX 300 units will undergo validation against the tallest available meteorological masts at local Remote Sensing Test Sites in Germany, operated by Pavana. They will be utilised to support technical guidance outlined in TR6, published by the German FGW, which describes processes for assessing wind potential and energy yield at wind turbine sites. The guideline emphasises wind measurement methods, encompassing meteorological masts, Sodar, and Lidar devices. ZX 300 has been accepted and approved for use within TR6. In support of Vattenfall, ZX Lidars’ Trusted Service Provider, Ge:Net, will provide autonomous power supplies and mobility solutions to facilitate Lidar-based wind measurement campaigns. Germany

Iberdrola sells its wind power assets in Romania

Iberdrola proceeds with its plan to divest non-core assets, agreeing with Premier Energy Group to sell its renewables assets in Romania for €88 million. Premier Energy Group, through its Romanian subsidiary, Premier Renewable Invest, has acquired 100% of the ‘Eolica Dobrogea One’ wind energy company, previously owned by Iberdrola. The sale of the 80 MW wind power capacity means Iberdrola will no longer hold assets in Romania. Regulatory approvals typical for such transactions in Romania are pending for this divestment. This move aligns with the Strategic Plan, targeting an asset rotation of €12.2 billion within the 2024-2026 period. Romania

Ørsted to divest its French onshore business

Ørsted and Engie have signed a share purchase agreement under which Engie will acquire Ostwind International, Ostwind Engineering, and their subsidiaries (jointly Ostwind France), Ørsted’s onshore wind and solar business in France. The transaction is expected to close in Q2 of 2024. Ørsted acquired Ostwind France in 2022 as part of the acquisition of the French and German onshore platform from Ostwind AG. The German part of the Ostwind transaction has been integrated fully into Ørsted and will remain a focus of Ørsted’s European onshore wind and solar investments. The company decided to concentrate its efforts on the UK, Irish, German, and Spanish markets for onshore wind and solar, in Europe. With the divestment of Ostwind France, Ørsted will have no remaining activities in France. France
