Research And Development Services And Related Consultancy Services – Fe 08.0276/2023/Dgb - Sustainable Concrete Pavements Through The Use Of New Cements, Taking Into Account The Required Durability Aspects. Modern Road Construction Is Currently Facing Various Challenges In The Areas Of Environmental And Climate Protection. In The Future, Sustainability Aspects Should Be Given Greater Consideration In The Planning And Tendering Of Construction Measures As Well As The Careful Selection Of The Building Materials And Construction Methods Used. Given That The Production Of One Ton Of Cement Is Currently Associated With Emissions Of Around 600 Kg Of Co2, A Reduction In The Clinker Factor For Cement In Road Construction Is Unavoidable In The Future. One Goal Of This Research Project Is To Work Out The Different Requirements For The Top And Bottom Concrete Of A Concrete Road Surface And To Qualify The Cements That Are Suitable For This From An Ecological Point Of View. The Alternative, Clinker-Reduced Cements With Several Main Components, Such As Cem Ii/C-M (S-Ll), Have So Far Been Excluded From Use In Concrete Road Construction Because They Are Not Approved For The Required Exposure Classes. Since Sub-Concrete Is Usually Less Moist, Hardly Any De-Icing Salt Is Added And Fewer Freeze-Thaw Cycles Occur, The Question Arises As To Whether Lower Exposure Class Requirements Are Sufficient For The Sub-Concrete And Alternative Cements Can Be Used Here. To Qualify Alternative Cements, A Systematic Test Program Must Be Carried Out In The Laboratory. If The Required Durability Properties Of The Sub-Concrete Of A Concrete Road Surface Can Also Be Demonstrated In The Laboratory Using Future, Highly Clinker-Reduced Cements, The Required Sustainability Aspects Could Be Met To A Greater Extent.
