The Main Location Is The Building Of The Former Center For Marine And Atmospheric Sciences (Zmaw)/Bundesstr. 53 (Bu 53) Which Currently Also Houses The University Of Hamburg. After Almost 20 Years Of Use, The Office Building Is To Be Converted For Scientific Use By The Mpi So That All Departments Can Conduct Research At One Location In The Future. The Usable Area Of The Zmaw Is 5,210 M² (Nuf 1-6), Gross Floor Area 8,328 M² Gfa And The Gross Volume (Bri) Approx. 36,593 M³. A Gradual Commissioning Of Individual Or Several Service Phases Is Planned. Technical Requirements: The Planned Integration Of Research Facilities Into The Building, Which Was Previously Used Purely As An Office Building, Requires The Renovation Of The Existing Technical Building Equipment As Well As Additions For The New Areas Such As 280 M² Physical Measuring Rooms, Electronics Workshops And A Seminar Area. In The Future, The Building Will Be Self-Sufficient With The Essential Supply And Disposal Lines Such As District Heating, Water, Wastewater, Electricity And Telecommunications. For This Purpose, The Technical Systems Must Be Provided And The Appropriate Connections Must Be Made. The Existing Connecting Lines Are To Be Completely Dismantled. The Expanded Use Of The Building Requires The Installation Of A Freight Elevator And A Small Computer Room With Approx. 20 To 25 Kw. The Conversion And Renovation Will Take Place In Two Stages, As Only One Part Of The Building Will Be Empty From 2025. This Will Be The First To Be Renovated, Including The Installation Of The Necessary System Technology. After Moving To The Renovated Area, The Second Part Of The Building Will Be Converted. All Measures (Interim) That Are Necessary To Keep The Respective Part Of The Building In Operation Usable During Construction Must Be Taken Into Account. The Max Planck Society Attaches Great Importance To Applicants Being Able To Demonstrate In-Depth Knowledge Of The Construction Of Research Buildings. During Planning And Construction Implementation
