The A7 Is A Trunk Road On The South-East Unit Of Transport Scotland’S Trunk Road Network. Bear Scotland Is The Trunk Road Maintenance Operating Company. A7 Bolside Is Located Just South Of Galashiels In The Scottish Borders. The A7 Trunk Road In This Area Is Single Carriageway With Many Sharp Bends Which Is Cut Into A Steep Hillside And Is Heavily Vegetated At Both Sides. A Busy Public Cycle/Footway Is Located At The Bottom Of The Downslope Adjacent To The Trunk Road. A New Reinforced Concrete Anchored Beam Secured By Soil Nails To Be Installed To Give Edge Restraint To The Carriageway And To Provide A Platform To House A New Drainage Channel And A Vehicle Restraint System. The Length Of The Beam Is Approximately 460M With Soil Nails Inserted Every 600Mm. Site Clearance Is Required To Enable Installation Of The 350 No Soil Nails. Slope Monitoring To Be Installed To Monitor The Downslope During The Works. A V Shaped Drainage Channel To Be Formed Within The Beam, Also A Socketed Vrs System To Be Installed. Reinstatement Of The Foundation And Bituminous Layers Of The Carriageway To Be Carried Out With The Surface Course Replaced Onto Both Lanes, Followed By All Roadmarkings. Application, Installation And Maintenance Of Temporary Traffic Management To Be Carried Out Throughout The Works. The Northbound Lane To Remain Open At All Times Except For Final Resurfacing And Roadmarkings. The Cycle/ Footway To Remain Open At All Times And To Be Protected From The Effects Of Works. Access Is Anticipated To Be Restricted And Adjacent To A Steep Slope, Therefore Suitable Qualifications Will Be Required For Potential Contractors. The Contractor Must Have Demonstrable Experience Of Similar Works. The Contractor Must Also Be Approved To The Applicable Sector Schemes For These Kinds Of Works
