Ekerö Municipality Intends To Procure A Ferry Connection On Ekeröleden For The Period 2027-07-01 Until The Date The Bypass Opens (Planned 2030). Prerequisites For 30 Years, Ekerö Municipality Has Been Running A Ferry Operation That Connects Ekerö And The Southern Town In Botkyrka Municipality For Various Types Of Traffic. Ekerö Municipality Has An Agreement With The Swedish Transport Administration Regarding Ferry Operations. The Agreement With The Swedish Transport Administration Expires On 30 June 2027 And Cannot Be Extended Further. In 2030, Bypass E4 Will Be Opened, Creating A Faster Connection Between Ekerö Municipality And The Southern Town For Car And Bus Traffic. The Time Gain That The Ferry Provides Today Will Mostly Disappear For The Paying Customers If You Can Go To The Southern Part Of The City And Södertörn Through The New Tunnel. Both Usage And Willingness To Pay Among Users Will Decrease Significantly. Since Ekeröledens Business Model Is Based On User Fees, Even A Small Reduction In The Travel Base Will Result In The Revenue No Longer Being Able To Cover The Costs. Contract Period The Contract Period Is 2027-07-01 Through 2031-06-30. Ekerö Municipality Has A Notice Period Of Twelve (12) Months And The Agreement Is Planned To Be Terminated When There Is Information About The Final Opening Of The Bypass So That The Ferry Traffic According To This Agreement Ceases Two (2) To (3) Weeks After The Opening. Timetable Ekerö Municipality Plans To Award The Procurement In December 2026.
