The Large Sea Lock In Emden Is The Main Access To The Emden Inland Port. It Was Built Between 1907 And 1913 And Went Into Operation In 1913. Extensive Examinations Of The Entire Structure Took Place In 1982/83 And Most Recently In 2016/17 Through A Main Building Inspection. This Essentially Includes The Repair Of The Heads Including The Hydraulic Steel Construction And The Drive Technology. During Execution, The Direct Dependencies And Interfaces Of The Solid Construction Component Groups Of The Heads, Lock Gates, Drive Carriages, Undercarriages And, Above All, The Gate Runners With Repair Of The Soles And Jambs Must Be Taken Into Account. The Entire Construction Project Must Be Carried Out During Ongoing Operation Of The Sea Lock And While Maintaining Public Transport.
