Contextual Background and Strategic Focus The ongoing conflict in Lebanon has deepened the already challenging conditions for children and youth, exacerbating the effects of existing social, economic, and political crises. Education, psychosocial support (PSS), and youth empowerment have all been severely impacted, with violence and displacement disrupting access to learning, increasing mental health risks, and limiting opportunities for young people to build their skills and engage in their communities. In response to these urgent needs, RTP in Lebanon prioritizes education, psychosocial support, and youth empowerment, integrating them into programs that provide safe learning spaces, essential support, and skill-building opportunities. By leveraging our expertise in play-based learning, RTP fosters resilience, holistic development, and social cohesion among children, youth, and communities in crisis-affected settings. 4. Objectives of Consultancy Right To Play seeks a Sports for Protection Consultant to provide technical expertise in the preparation and delivery of a training on Sports for Protection for teachers, integrating Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) principles and sport-based facilitation methodologies. The consultant will support teachers in strengthening their ability to intentionally use sport as a vehicle to promote childrens wellbeing, protective behaviors, life skills, inclusion, positive relationships, and social-emotional competencies. 5. Scope of Work & Key Responsibilities A. Training Preparation and Co-Development (1 Day) The consultant will: Participate in a planning and coordination meeting with the project team. Review project objectives, participant profiles, and existing Sports for Protection materials. Adapt and finalize the training agenda and facilitation approach jointly with Right To Play. Ensure the training integrates: Sports for Protection principles Right To Plays Social and Emotional Learning Framework Child protection and safeguarding principles Trauma-informed and child-centered sport facilitation Inclusive and gender-responsive sports programming Positive coaching methodologies Prepare practical sport demonstrations, reflection exercises, and facilitation activities. B. Training Facilitation (4 Days) The consultant will facilitate a four-day participatory training for teachers. Indicative topics include: Foundations for Sports for Protection Sport as a protective and developmental intervention in humanitarian settings Integrating Social and Emotional Learning into sports activities Intentional facilitation and reflective questioning Positive coaching and trauma-informed practices Designing structured sport sessions with clear protection and SEL outcomes Building safe, inclusive, and supportive play environments Safeguarding, child protection, and risk mitigation during sport activities Gender equality and inclusion in sports programming Behavior management and positive discipline Session adaptation for different ages and abilities Practical facilitation, coaching demonstrations, and peer feedback Training should use experiential adult-learning methodologies, including demonstrations, practice sessions, reflection, group work, role plays, and coaching exercises. Estimated Workload: The consultant is expected to work an estimated total of 5 days (1 day preparation and 4 days training facilitation), based on mutual agreement between both parties and depending on workload requirements. How to apply 6. Qualifications of the Consultant Applicants should meet the following qualifications and experience: University degree in Sports Science, Physical Education, Sport for Development, Education, Psychology, Child Development, Social Sciences, or another relevant discipline. Minimum 3 years of professional experience in Sport for Development (SFD), Sports for Protection, or sport-based programming with children and adolescents. Demonstrated experience designing and facilitating capacity-building trainings for teachers, coaches, facilitators, or community-based practitioners. Strong technical expertise in integrating Social and Emotional Learning (SEL), life skills, or positive youth development into sports programming. Sound understanding of child development, child protection, safeguarding, trauma-informed practice, and inclusive sport methodologies. Experience working in humanitarian, emergency, displacement, or crisis-affected contexts is highly desirable. Excellent facilitation, coaching, and adult-learning skills with the ability to deliver highly participatory and practical training. Fluency in Arabic is required; working knowledge of English is an asset. 7. Budget Consideration The consultant shall propose a daily consultancy rate covering all related costs for the 5 working days of the assignment. Consultancy fees are subject to 8.5% withholding tax if the consultant does not hold a Ministry of Finance (MOF) number. Agreements will be registered with the MOF regardless of whether the consultant holds an MOF number.
