The required integrated fault location system shall combine several specialized techniques to transform a complex underground failure into a manageable repair task. It should include an Insulation Resistance and DC Hipot testing, followed by a Time Domain Reflectometry TDR. Moreover, the system shall be equipped with Burner as well as high energy Surging Thumping that allow technicians to physically pinpoint the fault s location above ground. Finally, dedicated Sheath Fault testing ensures the cable s outer protection is intact.
