Sd62 John Muir Hvac Upgrade Phase 05 . Hazardous Materials Investigation Within Select Sections Of John Muir Elementary School, Sooke, Bc. This Investigation Was Conducted Prior To Hvac Upgrade. This Investigation Was Carried Out On March 1, 2026. This Investigation Was Intended To Identify The Locations And Types Of Hazardous Materials That Are Present In The Area Of The Building Where Renovations Are Taking Place Only. Block Walls May Have Asbestos Containing Vermiculite Within The Cells (Exact Locations Are Unknown But Known To Exist In The Gym Building And May Exist In Other Sections Of The School). All Accessible Areas Where Renovations Will Be Taking Place Were Inspected. The Scope Of Our Investigation Focused On Proposed Renovation Area Only. Hvac Upgrade Will Be Taking Place Within The Addition In The South End Of The Building, Main Foyer And Gym. The Section Of The Building Has A Concrete Block Construction. Heating Is A Combination Of Hvac And Electric Baseboard Heat. New Hvac Units To Be Installed On The Roof Top. Block Walls May Have Asbestos Containing Vermiculite Within The Cells. Exact Locations Are Unknown. Coring To Date Has Not Shown Vermiculite Insulation Within The Cells In The Addition However This Material May Exist In Areas Not Cored. Drilling Of Pilot Holes Prior To Penetration Using Moderate Risk Work Procedures Is Recommended. Lead In Paint Sampling Was Conducted As Part Of This Survey. Due To The Destructive Nature Of The Testing, Tclp Sampling Was Not Conducted At This Time.
