Services Provided By Medical Laboratories – Framework Agreement: Routine Analysis For The Federal Environmental Sample Bank, Sub-Bank For Human Samples. The Federal Environmental Sample Bank (Upb) Is An Archive Of Samples With Which The Quality Of The Environment And Health-Relevant Environmental Influences On Humans Are Documented And Evaluated. In Addition To A Large Number Of Environmental Samples, Human Samples (24-Hour Urine, Whole Blood And Blood Plasma) From Around 500 Students In 4 Cities In Germany Are Collected For The Upb Every Year. These Human Samples Are Needed To Be Able To Track Changes In Environmental (Pollutant) Exposure To Humans Over Time. The Upb Is A Central Element Of Environmental Monitoring In Germany. It Provides The Federal Ministry For The Environment, Climate Protection, Nature Conservation And Nuclear Safety (Bmukn) With A Scientific Basis To Take Measures In (Health-Related) Environmental And Nature Conservation And To Monitor Their Success. The Operation Of The Environmental Sample Bank Is Bindingly Regulated In The Concept Of The Federal Environmental Sample Bank. In Order To Achieve A High Level Of Quality Assurance, Essential Steps From Sampling To Sample Transport, Sample Processing And Long-Term Storage Are Bindingly Defined In Standard Operating Procedures (Sop). . For Upb, Blood Plasma And Whole Blood Samples Must Be Examined For The Elements Listed Below. - Lead, Cadmium, Mercury And Manganese In Whole Blood; - Copper, Selenium And Zinc In Blood Plasma. .
