Project Description Design And Construction Of The Kommat Mountain Biking And Outdoor Trail Complex Between Poikkijoki–Kuolpuvaara–Kommattivaara.Procurement Background And Goals Sodankylä Municipality Has Received A Positive Funding Decision From The Finnish Federation For The Jtf-Funded Better Paths, Stronger Attraction – Sodankylä Route Investment Project. The Project Belongs To Action Line 7 (Finland Of A Just Transition) Of The Renewing And Competent Finland 2021–2027 Program And Implements Special Goal 7.1 A Regionally Just Transition Of The Abandonment Of Peat. The Goal Of The Project Is To Improve The Outdoor And Exercise Opportunities Of Sodankyläs Residents And Tourists And To Implement High-Quality, Safe And Accessible Local Routes. The Route Complex In The Kommati Area Directs Traffic To Marked Tracks, Reduces The Wear And Tear Of The Terrain And Supports Consideration Of Natural Diversity. Scope Of Route Alignments And Construction Measures The Implementation Of The Route Complex In The Kommati Area Is Based On Route Sections Of Different Levels. Existing Roads Suitable For Cycling And Fitness Paths Will Be Used For A Distance Of About 6 Kilometers, For Which Route Signs Will Be Implemented. Erosion-Sensitive Sections That Require Repair Will Be Improved Over An Extent Of About 1.2–1.5 Kilometers, Especially At The Pörsiölammi And Kommattilammi Marsh Areas, Where The Repair Measures Include Drainage Solutions And Strengthening Of Surface Structures. New Cross-Country Trail Sections Will Be Built In The Varying Forest Terrain Of About 3–3.5 Kilometers In The Area Of Kuolpuvaara And Kommati, Where An Easily Accessible And Independently Functioning Trail Complex Will Be Formed. In Addition, Existing Nature Trails, Forestry Machines And Quad Tracks Will Be Chained Into Smooth Circular Routes. Contents Of The Contract To Be Procured (Sr Contract) The Object Of The Procurement Is The Design And Construction Of A Mountain Biking Trail To Be Built In The Kommat Area As A Reverse Design And Build (Sr) Contract. The Contract Includes E.G.:– Final Definition Of The Routes Alignment In The Terrain– Clearance Of The Route Corridor– Terrain And Ground Construction Works– Construction Of Route Structures (Design, Bends, Inclined Curves)– Drainage And Water Management Solutions– Finishing And Landscaping Of The Route– Safety Structures Construction Is Carried Out Based On Route Plans And Job Descriptions, Utilizing Small Machinery And A Construction Method Suitable For Laplands Conditions. The Route Must Be Safe, Clear And Suitable For Different User Groups. Guidelines The Project Includes The Implementation Of The Guide System (Manufacturing, Setting Up And Installation). The Visual Appearance Of The Signs, The Family Of Signs, Pictograms, The Way Of Presentation, And The Key Installation And Material Principles Are Implemented In Accordance With The Visual Appearance Of The Signs Of Nearby Routes In Sodankylä (Ovi Report, Luova Maalainen 2026). The Sign Set Includes E.G. Area Signs, You Are Here Boards, Trail Center Information Boards, Guide Capes, Continuous Guidance Signs And The Necessary Warning And Traffic Sign Solutions.
