With The Upcoming Competition, The City Of Essen Is Pursuing The Goal Of Further Developing Two Of The Ieks Central Lead Projects - The Green-Blue Inner City Band And The Market Church Area - As A Coherent Public Space Into A Sustainable, High-Quality Overall Project In Terms Of Urban Development And Open Space Planning. The Existing Structural Structures In The City Center Will Be Retained; The Focus Is On The High-Quality Transformation Of Public Space. The Central Themes Of The Competition Are A Significant Increase In The Quality Of Stay, The Promotion Of Climate-Adapted, Green Urban Spaces, The Improvement Of Access And Path Connections And The Creation Of Attractive, Flexible-Use Urban Spaces For Different Target Groups.
